The recent Vendor Perceptions Survey from ComTech Advisory reveals many fascinating market insights from CTRM users and consultants, including that Gen10 are viewed among the CTRM market leaders.

The survey reveals that CTRM market is crowded, and vendors face much competition, as 102 different brands and products were mentioned. And 39% of respondents stated that they don’t know the overall market leader – more than cited a vendor or product.

Of these 102 brands, only 19 were named by survey respondents as being perceived as the overall global market leader – including Gen10.

Dr Gary Vasey, Managing Partner at ComTech Advisory, said of the results:

“From a historical perspective, it seems many more brands continue to emerge in terms of improved awareness and the dominance of the legacy brands continues to weaken somewhat. Mentions of leadership for vendors like Gen10 and a decline in overall recognition of entrenched vendors show that the market landscape continues to evolve and this, along with other survey data, suggests that the shift is partially from large installed solutions to more lightweight cloud-native software delivered as a service.”

Gen10 pride ourselves on our wide-ranging commodity expertise, and our ability to manage over 100 commodities on one system due to our highly configurable code base and collaboration with clients. This broad expertise was recognised as we were among only 14 vendors named as a leader in all commodity coverage by survey participants.

When it comes to specific commodities, Gen10 were in the top 10 vendors named as market leaders in ags, oilseeds, softs, and base metals.

And Gen10’s strong technological foundation was also recognised in this survey, with respondents mentioning Gen10 among the leaders in cloud CTRM, implementations and technical architecture.

These mentions of Gen10’s innovative technological approach alongside the capabilities that clients need to manage their business show that the market recognises and values our innovative, collaborative approach to commodity management and CTRM.

This is particularly true given the lack of a clear leader in almost all categories within the survey. The leadership gap shows that commodity businesses have a wide variety of different needs, and one solution does not suit every use case – and that is why Gen10 put flexibility and collaboration at the heart of our systems, so that we can ensure our systems meet the unique needs of every client.

George Bradshaw, Senior Sales Director for Gen10, noted:

“Energy & Commodity professionals are year on year becoming more aware of Gen10’s capabilities and value proposition, and to see this reflected in the Vendor Perceptions Survey is a great achievement.”

The survey also provides insights into Gen10’s areas of expertise that market participants are not yet aware of. The most striking of these being carbon. Despite Gen10 being the first to market with a carbon management solution and incorporating carbon management into our CommOS commodity management system, the survey shows that we still have work to do in demonstrating our carbon expertise to the market.

The survey also does not ask questions regarding some of Gen10’s other strengths, including physical and financial integration, logistics management software, data integration, commodity expertise and system usability.
