A conversational interface and AI governance layer that enable commodity trading teams to book trades, interrogate positions, and build analysis through natural language — with enterprise-grade control over every AI action, down to the penny.
Liverpool, UK - Gen10, the commodity trading technology company, today announced the launch of NaNi, a chat-driven AI orchestration platform, and Conductor.AI, an AI governance and agent-coordination layer. Together they bring conversational, agentic workflows to CommOS, Gen10’s CTRM/commodity operating system - letting trading, operations, and risk teams run their entire commodity trading and risk management environment through natural language, while keeping every automated action governed, permissioned, auditable, and cost-controlled.
With NaNi, you can book a trade, pull up a position, check inventories or counterparty exposure, reconcile a shipment, or generate analysis and powerful visualisations simply by asking — in plain language, in the flow of work.
“Chat-driven CTRM is here,” said Richard Williamson Founder and CEO of Gen10. “This is the next-generation CTRM that takes Gen10 to 11 – on our 25th birthday too! The hard part wasn’t the chat interface though. It was making AI safe, governable, agnostic and affordable enough to trust with a live book. That is exactly what Conductor.AI and NaNi solve.”
NaNi: the conversational front end to the trading book
NaNi is named after Nannie, the figurehead of the Cutty Sark - the tea clipper built with the most advanced technology of its day to win the race in the tea and wool trades. (Coincidentally it’s also Japanese for “what?”, the question any good intelligence keeps asking.)
NaNi sits on top of CommOS and 25 years of commodity trading domain expertise. She orchestrates and executes AI agents against the same trusted system of record that already runs physical and financial books across the agri complex, metals, and energy.
“The true value is our hard-earned 25 years solving complex, mercurial problems in commodity supply chains that has delivered the rich semantic context. Not something a start-up can easily achieve. Your AI is only as good as the data it understands.
“Capabilities at launch include agentic trade booking, contract comparison and intelligence, natural-language queries across the position, P&L, inventories and finance/risk, and documentary credit and shipping documentation processing. “Sounds cliché but we really are only scratching the surface.” Williamson adds.
Crucially, NaNi doesn’t stop at narrative. Ask her for analysis and she doesn’t merely describe the numbers - she visualises them, building dashboards and reports on the fly. All available from a mobile phone.
Conductor.AI: govern your AI strategy, down to the token
In a regulated, high-value environment, autonomy without control is a liability. Conductor.AI is the layer that makes agentic AI deployable in production. It lets an organisation design, implement, govern, and optimise its entire AI strategy in one place - coordinating multiple LLMs, agents, protecting client data confidentiality, enforcing permissions, segregation of duties, and recording a complete audit trail of every action taken on a user’s behalf, right down to token usage and cost control for further optimisation.
Conductor.AI is model-agnostic: firms can connect to multiple large language models and route each task to the most suitable one, rather than being locked to a single vendor. “Given the pace of change in this technology, we felt it was imperative to maintain flexibility for our clients as well as manage the risk of ‘choosing an AI’ in today’s climate”, Williamson said. And it reaches beyond the trading book - connecting to data, apps and services in the outside world bringing cost-effective interoperability and real context to decision-making.
By packaging orchestration, governance, and cost control together, Conductor.AI puts production-grade AI within reach of small and mid-sized trading firms that may lack the in-house resources - or the budget - to build it themselves.
